6 May 2018 by Brian Murdoch

The Blackhawks travelled to Dundee on 14th & 15th April to take on the top 10 reccy teams in the country who were all hoping to lift the Recreational Scottish Cup.

We knew the competition would be tough and teams would be out to beat the defending champions.

By the end of the round robin we had won 3 and lost 1 game and we went through as the group A winners to play the first semi-final against Edinburgh Knights.

Our semi-final was first against the Knights and it ended with a Blackhawks win, 2-1, with both goalies playing great throughout.

Semi-final 2 was between our friends from Ayrshire, the Irvine Flyers, who faced the Dumfries Demons. Dumfries won 3-2 following a penalty shootout, taking them to the final.

The Blackhawks came out strong rolling all 3 lines but the Demons took the lead, the Blackhawks worked hard and equalised after a great move and silky hands of Martin Finne.

The game went end to end, with no further scoring at either end for the remainder of the game. The game went onto sudden death overtime and the Blackhawks scored quickly with a great shot following a PASS from Graham Park, big Aren Northey hit a sweet one timer into the roof of the net.

The final buzzer sounded and the Blackhawks were taking the Scottish Cup back to Paisley for the 9th time.

It was a great battle against the Demons, we have faced them many times over the years and will no doubt face them again in Dumfries at the end of May at the Blackhawks Tourney.
